ZOOM: Problems we solve

• New Z39.50 programmers find it hard to get to grips with the big, scary standard.

• Building applications is boring because you need to write low-level code.

• Understanding ASN.1 and programming BER is hard!

These are some of the same problems that ``Z Pruned'' and the previous Abstract API addressed - unsuccessfully.

They are also the same problems as ZNG is addressing. In fact, ZOOM could be considered as a part of the Big ZNG Experiment.
